Bloat
Your score is physical. It drags behind you.
Collect pickups to grow a tail of segments. Each one is worth more score — but makes you slower to turn. Shed half your tail to escape, get a speed burst, and freeze your dropped segments as obstacles. You just rebuilt the maze around yourself.
This is my first game coded 100% in C and converted to wasm, enojy!
How it works
- Collect — grab glowing pickups to grow your tail and increase your score multiplier
- Turning degrades — every segment you add makes steering heavier, plan your arcs early
- Enemies — red chasers latch onto your body and crawl toward your head. blue chasers are hard to spot and bounce around randomly. Use your tail to trap red chasers. If one reaches your head, you die.
- Shed [space] — drop your back half, freeze it as solid obstacles, get a speed boost · 4s cooldown · min 6 segments
- Waves — clear all pickups to advance · each wave brings more pickups and more enemies
Controls
- ← → / A D — Turn
- Space — Shed tail
- R — Restart
- ESC — Pause
Notes
- I only tried on mac but should work on windows as well
- If you download my complied executable you have to run "chmod +x ./bloat" on it or it will not open
- You do also need to have the assets from the zip file in the same directory as where you are running the game
- If all of that hurts your brian well it hurts mine too so you can just play up there in the web version!
- Not tested on linux but mac version probobly works
- Sound effects were made by me, image of audio symbol form google and music from Pixbay

This is a really great game! I'm hooked!
Very nostalgic! The movement and the RNG makes me excited to play it over again, and the music sets a great pace!
9/10, Intuitive gameplay, reminds me of snake, could have more mechanics, but that soundtracks sounds hard
Thank you! I really appretiate the feedback
